Privacy Policy

EzyTitle ("EzyTitle", "we", "us") is a property title management platform that helps you register, verify and manage records of property ownership in South Africa. This policy explains what personal information we collect through the EzyTitle mobile application and related services, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 ("POPIA").
1. Who we are (Responsible Party)

If you provide us with personal information about another person (such as a co-owner), you confirm that you are authorised to do so and that they are aware of this policy.
3. Why we collect it
We process your personal information to:
- create and secure your account, including OTP verification of your cellphone;
- verify your identity, as required for reliable property ownership records;
- register, validate and manage records of your property and its ownership;
- issue and maintain a blockchain-backed record of your title;
- process payments for our services;
- send you service messages and notifications about your properties and account;
- prevent fraud and comply with our legal obligations.
We process this information because it is necessary to provide the services you request, to comply with law, or with your consent (which you may withdraw at any time by contacting us, although some services cannot be provided without the related information).
4. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers who help us operate EzyTitle:
- Identity verification: your name, surname, ID number and photo are shared with our accredited identity-verification partner to confirm your identity.
- SMS delivery: your cellphone number is shared with our SMS provider to deliver OTPs and service messages.
- Push notifications: your device token is processed by Google Firebase to deliver notifications.
- Address and mapping services: property addresses and coordinates are processed by mapping and address-validation providers to confirm property details.
- Payment processing: payment details are processed by our payment service provider.
- Hosting: our systems are hosted with cloud infrastructure providers, primarily in data centres located in South Africa.
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information where required by law, regulation or court order.
5. Blockchain records
Title records are represented as digital tokens on a public blockchain. The blockchain stores wallet addresses and transaction data, which are public and permanent by design. We do not write your name, ID number, cellphone number or other directly identifying information to the blockchain.
6. Cross-border transfers
Some of our service providers (for example push-notification and cloud services) may process information in countries outside South Africa. Where this happens, we ensure the recipient is subject to laws or binding agreements that provide an adequate level of protection substantially similar to POPIA.
7. How long we keep it
We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and thereafter only as long as we are required or permitted to by law (for example for financial record-keeping), or as needed to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. Records that are no longer required are deleted or de-identified.
8. Security
We protect personal information with appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit, hashed credentials and OTPs, access controls, and hosting in secured environments. If we believe your personal information has been accessed or acquired by an unauthorised person, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as required by POPIA.
9. Your rights
Under POPIA you have the right to:
- request access to the personal information we hold about you;
- request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;
- request deletion of your personal information or your account, subject to information we must retain by law;
- object to processing, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
- complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa): inforegulator.org.za, POPIAComplaints@inforegulator.org.za.

10. Children
EzyTitle is not intended for use by children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be available at this page, and we will notify you in the app of material changes.
